Coming Soon – Two New Groups
As a u3a we are always looking for activities which would appeal to our members. Two new groups have recently been proposed. Both of which we hope will be of interest to you:
Wine Appreciation – after a successful and very informative visit to Neills Wines in Groomsport for our first wine tasting event we hope to make this into a regular event.
Darts – are you a player or interested in learning?

2023/4 AGM & Groups Fair
Held on Thursday 15th February
Over 70 of our over 280 members, joined us for the short AGM. The main business was that of electing the new committee but first the committee extended their thanks to all the group leaders without whom our u3a would not thrive as it has. Our chairman thanked Colin Dickey for his services as Secretary and founder member Carmel Starr who is stepping down from the committee. We welcomed our new secretary Michael Sidwell and the incoming committee. Financially we are sound though not rich!
After refreshments, everyone was able to wander round the various stalls with their displays of art, crafts and more to see what activities our u3a has to offer. We now have 27 groups but if anyone has an interest in a topic or activity and would like to meet up with likeminded people on the Peninsula then why not contact us and discover how easy it is to become a Group leader. You will receive all the help that’s needed.

Harvesting a Great Idea – the Allotment Group makes headlines
The Autumn edition of Third Age Matters features our very own allotment group. Eagle-eyed readers of the u3a newsletter may also have spotted another article about the group and how the first years produce has been donated to local foodbanks.
